Alaska Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski says she's āstrugglingā over whether she can support President Donald Trump given his handling of the virus and race crises roiling the U.S.
Murkowski said Thursday that she was āthankfulā for retired Gen. James Mattis' extraordinary rebuke of Trump for politicizing the military. Asked about her support of the president, Murkowski replied, āI have struggled with it for a long time.ā Murkowski retracted her endorsement of Trump in 2016 after the āAccess Hollywoodā tape revealed he had bragged about sexually assaulting women.
She voted to acquit Trump of House impeachment charges earlier this year.
She spoke Thursday to reporters at the Capitol. Some other Republicans chose not to respond to reporter question's about Mattis' rebuke.

Sen. Mitt Romney responded by saying that Mattis is a "wonderful" man: "If I ever had to choose somebody to be in a foxhole with-- it would be with a General Mattis."
But he did not elaborate on whether he is also critical of the president's actions
