US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi arrives in San Francisco after attack on husband

A motorcade believed to be carrying House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has arrived at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, where her husband Paul is being treated following an attack in their San Francisco home earlier Friday.

Pelosi was in Washington when the assault occurred and flew back to San Francisco International Airport.

Authorities say an intruder attacked Paul Pelosi with a hammer inside the couple's home, while searching for the Democratic leader and shouting: "Where is Nancy, where is Nancy?"

The assault came 11 days before the heated midterm elections.

Police say they were called to the home, where they discovered David DePape and Paul Pelosi struggling over a hammer — and then the intruder beat Pelosi with it before being subdued.

The attacker's shouts echoed the chants during the U.S. Capitol insurrection, when rioters searched menacingly through the halls for her.
