US Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi said she worries UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson may approve a coronavirus vaccine that does not meet the US' standards, but President Donald Trump may "embrace" it anyways. Pelosi was asked at  press conference Friday if she thinks Johnson "is an example of somebody whose capacity to govern is reduced by coronavirus."

Pelosi quickly replied, "I have no idea," adding, "nor do I have of President Trump. I just said he clearly he is under medication. Any of us who are under medication of that seriousness is in an altered state." She then went on to say her concern "about any similarity between the two" was whether Trump might embrace a drug that was approved by the UK.

"I think we have to be very careful about what happens in the UK," Pelosi said. We have very stringent rules in terms of the Food and Drug Administration here about the number of clinical trials, the timing, the number of people and all the rest, so that when a drug is approved by the FDA, and the Scientific Advisory Committee that it is safe and efficacious, then it will have the trust of the American people to take it."

Pelosi made her comments at a press conference where she unveiled legislation that would allow Congress to intervene under the 25th Amendment to the Constitution to remove a president, but insisted it wasn't about President Trump.
