Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi on Thursday welcomed South Korea's President Moon Jae-in to Capitol Hill.

"Our friendship is strengthened by the presence of 28,000 US troops in South Korea," Pelosi said.

Moon said he looked forward to a dialogue with members of Congress that included, tackling the coronavirus pandemic and responding to climate change.

Moon is due to meet with President Joe Biden on Friday at the White House, where they are expected to discuss North Korea, China and cooperation on coronavirus vaccines amid a global shortage.

The South Korean president had earlier Thursday paid tribute at Arlington National Cemetery.
