Magellanic penguin chicks at Chicago's Shedd Aquarium have reached a new milestone.

After shedding their fuzzy feathers in preparation for their first swim, the chicks recently waddled into the water for the first time.

Since hatching in May, four Magellanic penguin chicks at the aquarium have been busy reaching new milestones and exploring new spaces by going on field trips around the aquarium while it was closed due to COVID-19.

Swimming is one of the final milestones for the chicks before they join the rest of the penguin colony already on exhibit.
