The governor of the US state of Pennsylvania criticised Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger after the NFL star posted a video of himself getting a beard trim at a barbershop while the state slowly reopens from the coronavirus pandemic.

With the state of Pennsylvania gradually reducing coronavirus restrictions, Roethlisberger posted a video on Monday showing him working out with a teammate then getting a beard trimming and haircut in a Pennsylvania barbershop while not wearing any protection.

Roethlisberger, who had elbow surgery in September and missed almost all of the 2019 season, had vowed not to shave the beard he had grown until he was able to throw a pass to a teammate.

Asked about it during a media briefing on Tuesday, governor Wolf expressed concern about Roethlisberger's actions and said everyone should avoid putting themselves in "harm's way", adding "I don't care who you are".
