White House press secretary Jen Psaki refused to give any credit to the Trump administration for recent progress in the COVID-19 vaccine rollout, saying Thursday, "I don't think anyone deserves credit when half a million people in the country have died of this pandemic."

Psaki made the comment during the White House briefing in response to a question about remarks made by former President Donald Trump's Health and Human Services Assistant Secretary Admiral Brett Giroir, who maintains that the bulk of the current vaccine distrubtion plan was set up by the Trump Administration's Operation Warp Speed.

Psaki took strong issue with Giroir's assessment, insisting when President Joe Biden took office, there were not enough vaccines, vaccinators or vaccine locations.

"There were shortages in all those areas which were preventing us from moving forward on getting the pandemic under control," Psaki said, adding that since the new administration took over, "we are going to have them now."
