Sculptor Daniel Chester French who constructed the formidable looking Abraham Lincoln (Abe) statue at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, must have agreed with Damon Langlois today, the United State's liberty was truly crumbling.

Echoing the current constitutional crisis which is gripping the US with their 45th President, 'the real Donald Trump' invoking executive privilege to block the US Congress from subpoenaing his staff to answer questions about the Russian interference in the 2016 Presidential Election, the winner of Texas Sand Fest was a sculpture of former US president Abraham Lincoln has his palm covering his face titled - 'Liberty is crumbling', a creation of Damon Langlois of British Columbia in Canada.

The Texas Sandfest which was held in Port of Arkansas, attracted more than 35000 people to witness the various amazing sculptures designed by the participants, according to a US news website.

The sand sculpture is a replica of the austere statue of the 16th US President at the Lincoln Memorial with just minor changes. While the Lincoln Memorial statue features Abraham Lincoln looking down at his fellow Americans while towering over them from a height of 19 feet while sitting on a throne-like seat in a royal posture radiating power, hands clutching the arms of his seat with one foot slightly raised ready to spring into action, the sand Lincoln seems to represent the opposite.

The sculpture features a sad Lincoln, shoulders slumped, mouth dropping in disappointment with one arm clutching his hair in disappointment at the presumably the sad 'state of the Union' and other hand clutching the arm of his seat for support. Interestingly, the massive throne-like structure on which Abe sits has major cracks in the steps, pedestal and the arms of the seat. This Abe does not resemble the royal Abe who won the Civil War but looks like one who is disappointed in the Donald Trump-led Union.

Langlois shared his inspiration with the media saying, "This is about the loss of freedom and liberty which is the common ground for all free people regardless of country or political affiliation. The will to be free should be what binds us despite who we vote for or what country we are from. I used Abe because he is the ultimate symbol of liberty."

Netizens have been venting their frustration at the loss of liberty in Trumpland tweeting:
