Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has said the Democrats will demand a vote in the Senate over the impeachment of President Donald Trump, so witnesses and documents can be brought forward.

Schumer added that the four Republicans needed to pass the vote will have to choose between engaging in a "cover-up for President Trump" or voting "for a fair trial."

With Republicans controlling the Senate 53-47, Democrats will need four GOP senators to join them to successfully call witnesses. The President's trial in the Senate gets underway in earnest on Tuesday.
