Famillies waited in line for hours for food and water in Houston.Democatic Congressman Al Green says some people were waiting since 7 a.m. He said they planned to help 1,000 families Monday. His office organized the event with Bethel's Family Church. The 30 pallets of food and water came from the Houston Food Bank.

Warmer temperatures spread across the southern United States over the weekend, bringing relief to a winter-weary region that faces a challenging clean-up and expensive repairs from days of extreme cold and widespread power outages. But many people were still in need, he said.

"We are working for people who really need help," Green said. "There are many people still without water and we believe that this church is doing a great job. We asked Pastor (Walter) August to do this. He immediately responded. People are suffering and we've got to do this and we've got to do more."
