U.S. President Donald Trump told reporters in Morristown, New Jersey that during negotiations over a coronavirus relief deal, Democrats only showed interest in "how to steal an election" and bailing out the governments of states and cities that have been poorly run by Democrats.
The president also said that by enacting executive orders, he made a great deal because "we've gotten much of what we wanted. They didn't get what they wanted."
Trump praised the recent performance of stock markets, said the payroll tax included in his executive order could eventually be made permanent. Critics said the actions crossed a legal line and fell well short of what is needed to help right the fragile economy.
