Trump: Moving 'heaven and earth' protecting seniors

President Donald Trump says he's moving "heaven and earth" to protect seniors from the coronavirus.

At the first of two stops Friday in Florida, the president spoke directly to seniors who have increasingly soured on his handling of the pandemic.

Polls have shown that Trump's support among this voting bloc has slipped partly due to his handling of the coronavirus pandemic. Seniors are among groups most vulnerable to the COVID-19 disease it causes.

The president is also assuring seniors they will be first in line for a vaccine when one is approved. He adds that he will provide them with treatments like those he received at no cost.

Trump repeated his claim that, "we are rounding the turn," when it comes to combating the coronavirus.

Trump recently recovered from COVID-19.

Despite the tough talk, Trump's actions on the ground in Florida underscored the conflicting messages his administration has sent throughout the pandemic. All of the president's security personnel and support staff were wearing face masks when Air Force One touched down, but Trump and Florida's Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis were bare faced.
