Trump promises 'strong' immigration act soon

Winding up a lengthy remarks in the White House Rose Garden, US President Donald Trump promised action on immigration "very soon," saying it would be "merit-based," and would involve DACA.

Last Friday, Trump said he would soon be signing an executive order on immigration that would provide a "road to citizenship" for DACA recipients.

Trump has repeatedly accused the Democrats of walking away from negotiations over the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA) that was created during the Obama administration.

Campaign rally-style broadsides against Democratic rival Joe Biden occupied the majority of the president's remarks Tuesday afternoon.
