President Donald Trump is touting his support of a farm food program in North Carolina.

"We're here to celebrate the incredible work of the farmers and faith leaders and amazing volunteers," said Trump during his third stop in the state Monday.

"Today, I'm proud to announce that we will provide an additional one billion dollars to fund the farmers to families food box programs, worked out so well. It's worked out so well."

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farmers to Families Food Box Program, buys and distributes agricultural goods through regional and local distributors

Suppliers package these products into family-sized boxes, then transport them to food banks, community and faith-based organizations, and other nonprofits serving Americans in need.

Food distributors saw sharp declines in business after restaurants and other food service establishments shut down or cut back because of the pandemic.

Trump first went to Charlotte, where the Republican convention got underway by officially nominating him as their candidate.

He also spoke to supporters before going to the farm in Mills River.

Trump will make one final stop in South Carolina before heading back to Washington and the be a part of the first primetime night of the Republican convention.
