The Sikh community in the United States of America has criticized the people with vested interest against India who are trying to mislead the world with their bogus issue of the 'Khalistan Referendum 2020' that aims to create a separate nation for the Sikh community. According to India America Today (IAT), Jesse Singh, Chairman of the 'Sikhs of America', condemned the propagators of the self-serving Sikh organizations in the US, which he said are not only misleading the entire community with false promises and propaganda but also facilitating illegal migration in America.

'False Propaganda'

"Amarjeet Singh, a parasite on community funds and Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, a failed lawyer, have been surviving on community funds collected by misleading innocent community members through false propaganda," IAT quoted Jesse Singh saying.

"We at 'Sikhs of America' are horrified at these divisive issues being pushed by the Sikhs for Justice folks who have now hitched onto the bandwagon of Kashmir issue which is an internal matter of India," he added.

'No support for Khalistan movement in India'

Recently, Indian Ambassador to the US Harsh V. Shringla in a congregation at the Sikh Association of Baltimore Gurdwara said, "It is important to note that in India, there is no support for this so-called 'Khalistan Movement.' We had Sikh President, Sikh Prime Minister, Sikh Chief of Army Staff, every possible high position in India has been occupied (by Sikhs)."

The "Referendum 2020" backed by a handful of Sikhs is a bogus issue, these are people supported by our neighboring state who has constantly opposed us. They are agents of that state. They have spread false rumors and propaganda," Shringla said.

“The organizers of the referendum are getting desperate, going into acts of terrorism. I think they would be a thing of the past," Shringla added.

The Indian envoy praised the role of the Sikh community for their role in strengthening the relationship between India and America and said that the Indian government will work with the community barring the fringe elements. The community leaders also presented Shringla with a ceremonial sword, a scarf and a thank you note.
