U.S. stocks are up slightly in early trading on Monday, as markets around the world made tentative moves amid all the uncertainty about how long the coronavirus outbreak will slam the global economy.

The trading floor of the New York Stock Exchange remained closed in light of COVID-19 but trading resumed.

The S&P 500 rose 1% in early trading.

The price of oil fell 6% to $20 a barrel, a level that is sure to cause more pain for the already battered energy industry.
