Ex-US President Donald Trump has filed official paperwork with the Federal Election Commission annopuncing himself a candidate for presidential run in 2024.

Additional documents filed with the FEC set up an account for campaign fundraising. It will be linked to the Save America Joint Fundraising Committee, which for months has been pouring money into Trump’s leadership PAC, Save America, reported USA Today.

This came ahead of a major announcement that Trump is expected to make this evening in the US at his Mar a Lago residence. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis earlier responded to former President Donald Trump’s recent criticism saying that ex-US President's remarks are “noise." 

“One of the things that I’ve learned in this job, when you’re leading, when you are getting things done, yeah, you take incoming fire. That’s just the nature of it,” DeSantis said at a news conference in Fort Walton Beach.

“I don’t think any governor got attacked more, particularly by corporate media, than me over my four-year term. And yet, I think what you learn is, all that’s just noise. And really what matters is, are you leading? Are you getting in front of issues? Are you delivering results for people? And are you standing up for folks? And if you do that, then, none of that stuff matters.”

“And that’s what we’ve done. We’ve focused on results and leadership. And you know at the end of the day, I would just tell people to check out the scoreboard last Tuesday night,” said Florida Gov.

Florida Gov DeSantis on Trump criticism; ‘Check the scoreboard’

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, now appearing as a rival to former US president Donald Trump, responded to the criticism that he recently faced from him. In his reponse, DeSantis said: "Check the scoreboard." He was asked during a news conference Tuesday about the former president’s announcement tonight and the remarks directed at him. Florida governor underscored his re-election win last week and without naming Trump, reminded about mandate of people. 

“One of the things I've learned in this job is when you're leading, when you're getting things done, you take incoming fire. That's just the nature of it,”  DeSantis said in Fort Walton Beach during an event.  “I don't think any governor got attacked more, particularly by corporate media, than me over my four-year term,” DeSantis said. “And yet, I think what you learn is all that's just noise. … We’ve focused on results and leadership. At the end of the day, I would just tell people to go check out the scoreboard from last Tuesday night.”

Trump mocked DeSantis over campaign video that involved excessive praises for the ex president. Democrat-aligned Twitter account Patriot Takes  DeSantis' campaign ad from 2018 in which the then-candidate for Florida governor and his family swear to Trump loyalty in exaggerated manner. “Thanks, Ron!” Trump himself responded to the clip on truth Social.

Judge dismisses Mary Trump’s multimillion-dollar lawsuit against Trump

A New York State judge dismissed Mary Trump’s multimillion-dollar lawsuit against the former president Donald Trump, her uncle on Tuesday. The judge cited an agreement that was signed by Mary, a clinical psychologist, to settle a dispute over the will of her late grandfather, Fred Trump Sr. Mary said in the court document that the ex-president, his late brother Robert Trump, and his sister, retired federal judge Maryanne Trump Barry, breached financial obligation after they duped her of millions of dollars that would have been legally  inherited by her from the estate of her late father, Fred Trump Jr.  

New York Supreme Court Justice Robert Reed said in an opinion published that Mary had "clearly and unambiguously” given up her right to sue Trump and others as part of the $2.7m settlement.
