As the number of U.S. coronavirus deaths approaches 200,000, a scoreboard posted Friday in suburban Chicago was erected to keep track of the number of Americans who've lost their lives to COVID-19.
Lee Goodman is a resident of Northbrook, Illinois, and an organizer with Peaceful Communities.
He says the group posted the sign in the center of town hoping it will serve as a wakeup call for residents.
"Everyone has aresponsibility, wherever they live, to do something about this virus. It'snot something we can just leave to other people to deal with," said Goodman.
