Trump is on a widespread campaign across the States - promoting and highlighting his administrative achievements. These include his first high-profile meeting with Kim Jong-un, which was organised in Singapore earlier this year. He also highlighted the recent visits of the US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, to North Korea for discussing matters relating to the denuclearization of the weapons in the country. According to reports, on being asked about his plans for the next meeting with the North Korean leader, Donald Trump commented, "I just can't leave now".

On their last meeting in Singapore, both the leaders, Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un, came to an affirmation resolving to work towards complete denuclearization of the Korean peninsula region. Kim committed to abandoning the nuclear weapons of the country - in exchange for a guarantee of security from the United States.

On October 7, Mike Pompeo visited Pyongyang in North Korea. He conducted talks with Kim Jong-un with the prime focus of talks on dismantling of the Pyongyang nuclear weapon programme. The talks also laid the foundation for the possibility of the second meeting between the US President and the North Korean leader. The meeting was apparently declared successful and productive. Both Trump and Kim gave an affirmation regarding the second summit, to be held "at the earliest possible date".

Since the talks, North Korea has taken several steps towards the dismantling of nuclear weapons in the country. The step is aimed in exchange for a supposed sanction relief and the guarantee of security from the US. However, the United States has reiterated that it would only lift the sanctions once Kim Jong-un achieves "complete and fully verifiable denuclearization" in his country, according to the reports.
