US President Donald Trump said his administration is considering some domestic travel restrictions "between hotspots" to try to combat the outbreak of the coronavirus in the United States.

"I am looking where flights are going into hotspots," Trump said.

"But closing up every single flight and every single airline is a very, very, very rough decision. But we are thinking about hotspots."

The president said he is also examining rail travel in the U.S. and would let reporters know fairly soon about any decision.

Trump also told reporters that he'd take a call from Democratic frontrunner former Vice President Joe Biden about the current health crisis.

"I don't know him very well, frankly, but I think he's probably a nice guy," Trump said.

"No, if he'd like to call, I would absolutely take his call."

The new coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms for most people.

For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness or death.
