Trump touts FDA authorization for new virus test

President Donald Trump said on Sunday that portable rapid tests for the coronavirus will soon be made available.

Illinois-based Abbott Laboratories says its cartridge-based test, approved Friday, delivers results within minutes.

"The deployment of rapid testing will vastly accelerate our ability to monitor, track, contain and ultimately defeat the virus," Trump said during a Rose Garden news conference on Sunday.
