Kyiv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Tuesday said that his meeting in Washington at White House last week did not go the way it was supposed to be but now it was time to make things right. Zelenskyy in a long post on X, formerly Twitter, clearly stated that nobody wants peace more than Ukrainians adding he and his team are ready to work under President Trump’s strong leadership to get peace that lasts. The sudden shift in Zelenskyy's approach, who till yesterday was saying that the end of war with Russia is very very far away, has come just hours after Trump halted all the military aid to Kyiv.
Though Zelenskyy said he is ready to move fast on a peace deal, he put forth conditions that both the fighting countries should follow in the first stem. Zelensyy said, “We are ready to work fast to end the war, and the first stages could be the release of prisoners and truce in the sky — ban on missiles, long-ranged drones, bombs on energy and other civilian infrastructure — and truce in the sea immediately, if Russia will do the same.”
Once this is achieved, Zelenskyy assured to move very fast through all next stages and to work with the US to agree a strong final deal.
In a long note on X, Zelenskyy wrote, “I would like to reiterate Ukraine’s commitment to peace. None of us wants an endless war. Ukraine is ready to come to the negotiating table as soon as possible to bring lasting peace closer. Nobody wants peace more than Ukrainians. My team and I stand ready to work under President Trump’s strong leadership to get a peace that lasts.”

Ukraine needs help to fight Russia
Ukraine, which depends heavily on foreign help to hold back Russia’s full-scale invasion that began on February 24, 2022, has feared that aid could be stopped since Trump took office.
US-made Patriot air defense missile systems, for example, are pivotal to protecting Ukraine. Just as vital is US intelligence assistance, which has allowed Ukraine to track Russian troop movements and select targets.
