For the upcoming Tamil film Thangalaan, actor Chiyaan Vikram has joined forces with director Pa Ranjith for the first time. The music of this historical drama is orchestrated by GV Prakash Kumar. Before the film's release, Ranjith recently organised a musical event called Margazhiyil Makkalisai where GV Prakash Kumar pleasantly surprised attendees by singing a snippet from a song in Thangalaan.

Excitement increases as the release of the first single from Thangalaan is approaching and it will expectedly coincide with the Pongal festival celebration. Originally scheduled for release on January 26, rumours are rife that the release date of Thangalaan might be rescheduled. An official announcement about the new release date might arrive with the launch of the film's first single.

It is being said that the makers of Thangalaan are aspiring to showcase the film at various film festivals before its theatrical premiere. Directed by Pa Ranjith, the movie has an ensemble cast led by Chiyaan Vikram in the lead role alongside Malavika Mohanan, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Pasupathy, and Daniel Caltagirone among others.
This historical drama delves into the evolution of the KGF region, spanning the period from the 1870s to the 1940s.
Malavika Mohanan recently dubbed for Thangalaan
Malavika who plays the female lead in the film, recently completed dubbing for her role. Reflecting on the experience during a social media interaction with fans, she expressed the challenges of dubbing for her character and the anxieties associated with the process. Malavika shared insights into the demanding nature of her role which involved silambam practice and horse riding.
Thangalaan is said to be inspired by a real event at the Kolar Gold Factory in Karnataka during British rule. The film is bankrolled by Gnanavel Raja under the Studio Green banner and has also been filmed in 3D.
