Auto sales: M&M sold 40,022 SUVs, Bajaj Auto posts 5% growth in June
Bajaj Auto plans to launch world's first CNG bike in July and recently set up a plant in Brazil.
June auto sales: Automobile companies today released sales data for the month of June. The sales performance has been a mixed bag, with the factor of a severe heatwave this year having played big in the auto sector. Prospective car buyers are still not buying enough vehicles to see this sector clock robust growth.
Mahindra & Mahindra
Country's leading SUV maker, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd saw its overall auto sales for the month of June 2024 at 69,397 vehicles, a growth of 11 per cent.
This sales data also includes exports. In the Utility Vehicles segment, Mahindra saw sales of 40,022 vehicles in the domestic market, a growth of 23 per cent, and overall, 40,644 vehicles, including exports. The domestic sales for Commercial Vehicles stood at 20, 594, as per a company statement.
Veejay Nakra, President, Automotive Division, M&M Ltd said, “We sold a total of 40,022 SUVs in June, a growth of 23% and 69,397 total vehicles, a 11 per cent growth over last year. June has been a momentous month, as we rolled out the 200,000th XUV700 from our facility. We also celebrated 25 years of Bolero Pik-Ups, a category creator and a market leader in the LCV segment.”
Leading two-wheeler and three-wheeler maker Bajaj Auto saw sales better than muted expectations. The Pune headquartered company saw total sales up 5 per cent year-on-year (YoY) at 3,58,477 units as compared to 3,40,981 in June, 2023. The domestic sales were up 8 per cent YoY , export sales up 1 per cent YoY three wheeler sales are strong, up 16 per cent YoY two wheeler sales see pressure in export markets, as per a company filing at the exchanges.
