Mercedes-Benz India has issued a recall for its multiple vehicles in India. There are 2543 units of E-Class, 3 units of C-Class recalled, as per SIAM.

Recall by Mercedes Benz: German luxury automaker Mercedes-Benz India has voluntarily recalled its multiple models in India. According to SIAM, Mercedes-Benz has recalled 2543 units of the E-Class and 3 units of the C-Class. The reason for the recall is to address a software issue with the engine control unit (ECU). Apart from this, the automaker has issued a separate recall for its multiple other models like the GLC, S-Class, AMG GT, G-Class, and AMG E-Class.

What is the issue with the Mercedes Benz E-Class?

According to SIAM, the issue is stated as,” it has been identified that software of the engine control unit unfortunately might not correspond to the current specifications. In this scenario, when exiting the sailing mode, the fuel injection in the vehicle might get deactivated and the vehicle may lose its propulsion without any prior warning. This may elevate the likelihood of a collision.”

  • The recalled units of E-Class are manufactured from 29 April 2022 to 20 August 2024.

What is the issue with the Mercedes Benz C-Class?

According to the regulatory body SIAM, the issue is stated as,” it has been identified that software of the engine control unit unfortunately might not correspond to the current specifications.” It further stated,” In this scenario, when exiting the sailing mode, the fuel injection in the vehicle might get deactivated and the vehicle may lose its propulsion without any prior warning. This may elevate the likelihood of a collision.”

  • The recall units are manufactured from 31 August 2021 to 31 October 2021.

What is the issue with the GLC, S-Class, AMG GT, G-Class, and AMG E-Class?

Mercedes Benz India has issued a voluntary recall of 96 units combined. According to SIAM, the issue is the fuel delivery module of the vehicle unfortunately might not meet specifications. As a result, the function of the fuel delivery module could be impaired under certain conditions and the fuel pump could be switched off.” It further said, ”As a result, the vehicle could spontaneously lose propulsion. This could increase the risk of accident or injury.”

  • The recall units of the Mercedes Benz S-Class are manufactured from 20 July 2022 to 29 September 2023.
  • The recall units of Mercedes Benz G-Class are manufactured from 17 August 2022 to 20 December 2022.
  • The recall units of the Mercedes Benz AMG E-Class are manufactured from 09 October 2021 to 18 October 2022.
