Skoda-VW cars recalled: Skoda and Volkswagen India have voluntarily recalled their select models manufactured on the MQB A0 IN platform due to an issue related to faulty welding on the track control arm. According to the listing on the Society of Indian Automotive Manufacturers (SIAM) recall website, Skoda and Volkswagen recalled 52 cars in India. The affected models are Skoda Slavia, Kushaq Volkswagen Taigun, and Virtus.

What’s the fault?

The automakers initiated the recall due to a possible irregularity in welding at the component’s supplier. The automakers suspect that during the production of the vehicles, the weld arm on the track control arm may have been missed. This could result in a potential failure of the component, leading the vehicle to lose control and stability, without any warnings to the driver.

Which are the affected models?

The affected model list consists of 38 units of Volkswagen, including the Taigun and Virtus, and 14 units of Skoda, including Slavia and Kushaq. The affected models are manufactured between 29 November 2023 to 20 January 2024.

Safety Precautions:

The automakers, Skoda and Volkswagen haven’t issued any public statement about the voluntary recall. The recall was officially documented on 20 October 2024 and it is expected that the automakers will contact the concerned owners and fix the issue without charging any cost.
