Air India to launch Delhi-Dhaka direct flight from September 15
The additional frequency between Delhi and Dhaka meets the rising demand for international travel due to Bangladesh's economic growth.
Air India has announced the launch of non-stop flight between Delhi and Dhaka, aiming to provide increased convenience and comfort for travellers flying between the capital cities of India and Bangladesh. The new service is set to commence on September 15, 2023 and will operate four times a week, utilising Airbus A320 aircraft.
Currently, Air India operates three weekly flights between Kolkata and Dhaka. The additional frequency between Delhi and Dhaka is a response to the growing demand for international travel to and from Dhaka, driven by Bangladesh's rapid economic growth and overall development.
"The flight, designated as AI237, will depart from Delhi at 1755 hrs and arrive in Dhaka at 2045 hrs, while the return flight AI238 will leave Dhaka at 2145 hrs and arrive in Delhi at 2350 hrs. All times mentioned are local timings. Booking for these flights is now open through various channels, including Air India's official website (www.airindia.com), mobile app, and travel agents, including online travel agents," Air India said in a press statement.
Expanded Flight Network
With the introduction of these additional weekly flights from Delhi to Dhaka, Air India seeks to offer enhanced frequency and more convenient connections to 14 destinations within India and 14 destinations across North America, UK, Australia, the Middle East, and the Far East.
JRD Tata's Air India has developed an extensive domestic network and provides non-stop flights to numerous cities around the world, spanning regions such as US, Canada, UK, Europe, Far-East, South-East Asia, Australia, and the Gulf. In January 2022, Air India and Air India Express rejoined the Tata group after 69 years as government-owned enterprises.
"Under the guidance of Vihaan.AI, Air India is undergoing a major five-year transformation roadmap, with the aim of becoming a world-class airline with an Indian heart. The initial phase, known as the taxi phase, focused on essential improvements, such as bringing back long-grounded aircraft into service, talent acquisition for flying and ground functions, technology upgrades, and customer care enhancements," Air India said in a press statement.
The airline has invested over $400 million in refurbishing the interiors of all wide-body aircraft and has allocated over $200 million for digital and technology enhancements. Additionally, in January 2023, Air India placed an industry-record order for 470 aircraft across Boeing and Airbus, with the first planes expected to join its fleet later in the year.
