Ampverse plans to set up gaming studio in India by February 2024

Avmpverse gaming studio in India: Ampverse, the Singapore-based gaming startup, is working towards building a gaming studio in India, setting the stage for an augmented local presence, according to a senior executive. Charlie Baillie, Ampverse's Co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer, shared that the company's plans involve a strategic collaboration with DMI Finance to create a joint venture that underpins its Indian operations.

"Content is a big part of our business. We will be investing in the studio and other capabilities as the month goes by. It will be set up before the end of season 1 (of the College Rivals esports tournament) which is in February. College Rival is the first IP. Beyond that we are looking at original content IPs and other esports format IPs while we will continue to grow College Rival," Baillie said.

Baillie's insights were shared on the sidelines of the launch event for the College Rivals esports tournament. He anticipates an impressive turnout of more than 80,000 students for Season 1 of College Rival, which is also poised to serve as a talent-scouting platform, effectively pinpointing the most promising gamers.

Promotion with a gaming truck

Ampverse DMI, the collaborative entity, intends to bolster engagement through an innovative gaming truck that will traverse major cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune, and Hyderabad. In addition to gaming, the partnership between Ampverse and DMI foresees the development of assorted products and merchandise for e-commerce ventures, contributing to an enriched user experience.

As Ampverse DMI embarks on its Indian journey, its current team of eight to 10 employees is slated to expand significantly, with a projected growth to 50 employees within the next 12 to 18 months, as disclosed by Baillie.
