WhatsApp HD videos: In a recent update, WhatsApp revealed its latest feature – support for HD videos, extending the enhanced resolution experience to both iOS and Android users. This development follows the announcement of HD photo support just last week.

Comparable to the HD photos feature, this new addition empowers users to share high-definition videos within the messaging app. In the past, videos were compressed to 480p due to the app's resolution limit. With the latest enhancement, users can choose to transmit their videos in high-definition, although the upper limit remains at 720p.

Choose the quality of your videos

The process mirrors that of sharing HD photos. Upon selecting the desired video(s) to share, users simply need to tap the newly introduced HD button situated at the top of the screen. A dialogue box will emerge, offering the option to share in either Standard Quality or HD Quality, along with details about the corresponding file sizes. A customary "send" command concludes the process, facilitating the video-sharing experience.

It's important to note that the end-to-end encryption safeguarding images and videos shared on WhatsApp remains unchanged.

HD badge on videos

Recipients will now observe a subtle HD badge on videos shared within the app, indicating that the content was shared in HD. This serves as an informative marker, allowing recipients to assess whether they possess adequate storage capacity or bandwidth to view the high-definition video immediately.

This feature is gradually rolling out, so if you haven't accessed it yet, expect to do so in the near future.
