In a proactive engagement with field officers and jawans of the Chenani police station, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Joginder Singh of Udhampur highlighted the importance of maximum coordination with the Army and CRPF during anti-militancy operations. The interaction, aimed at assessing the functioning and welfare of the officers and jawans, focused on strengthening collaboration for enhanced security measures in the Chenani region, situated in the Udhampur district of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

During the interaction, SSP Udhampur, Joginder Singh, shared insights into the future challenges faced by the police in the region. Emphasizing the need for strict discipline in the line of duty, he underscored the significance of close coordination with other security agencies, such as the Army and CRPF, especially during anti-militancy operations and law enforcement activities. The SSP stressed the importance of adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure effective and efficient operations.

CRPF's CoBRA withdrawal and collaborative efforts

The news report also highlighted recent developments concerning the withdrawal of the elite Combat Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) force from Jammu and Kashmir by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). The decision followed objections from some senior CRPF officials who raised concerns about CoBRA's specialized training for counter-Maoist operations in jungle warfare. The CRPF, a key internal security combat unit with over 3 lakh personnel, continues to be actively deployed in Jammu and Kashmir for counter-terrorism operations.

Notably, the report shed light on the Valley Quick Action Team (Valley QAT), a specialized anti-terrorist unit within the CRPF. Originally created in 2011 to provide security for convoys and VIPs, the Valley QAT transformed into a specialized urban combat operations force in 2016. The team's successful missions have contributed to countering terrorism in the Kashmir Valley, with commendable gallantry awards, and it has also integrated women into its ranks as of 2021.

Udhampur police's commitment to combat social evils

Apart from focusing on security measures, SSP Joginder Singh applauded the determination and commitment of the Udhampur police in combating the drug menace and addressing other social issues prevalent in society. He encouraged supervisory officers to attentively listen to the grievances of subordinates and take prompt actions to resolve issues. The SSP issued specific instructions to ensure the safety and security of tourists around December 31st, emphasizing mobile patrolling in popular tourist destinations such as Patnitop, Kud, Sudhmahadev, and Mantalai.
