Rs 2,500 crore approved for Himachal Pradesh tourism development project

The Himachal Pradesh government has granted approval for a tourism development project valued at Rs 2,500 crore, as announced by RS Bali, the chairperson of the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC). The declaration was made during the inauguration of the three-day Asian Rafting Championship in Nadaun, Hamirpur district. 

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has assigned Bali with the significant responsibility, and the project, which will receive support from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), has received official clearance.

As part of the approved project, detailed project reports have been formulated for the establishment of a tourism corporation hotel, wellness center, and water sports center in Nadaun, Bali revealed.

The Asian Rafting Championship in Nadaun features the participation of twenty-four teams, including representatives from Nepal, Bhutan, Kazakhstan, the Indian Army, the Border Security Force, and various states such as Karnataka and Sikkim. The championship, commencing in the Beas River near Nadaun, will cover a 25-km race concluding at Chambapatna near Dehra in Kangra district.

To ensure the safety of participants, an Indian Army helicopter, a state disaster response force team, and police personnel are stationed to address any emergencies during the race, according to an official statement. The competition encompasses three categories: men's, women's, and mixed rafting.
