New Delhi: Lakhs of medical aspirants are eagerly waiting for the Supreme Court's judgement on potential cancellation of NEET-UG 2024 and a retest amid the paper leak claims. Meanwhile, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has urged medical colleges to submit their seat matrices on its official website, mcc.nic.in, in preparation for the upcoming NEET UG counselling 2024.

Earlier, the Union government informed the Supreme Court through a fresh affidavit that the NEET UG counselling is set to begin in the third week of July. Medical institutes participating in NEET UG counselling have until July 20 to upload their seat lists on the portal.

The MCC issued a notice urging institutes to start entering their seats on the portal promptly to ensure timely completion of the seat contribution process. "Institutes participating in UG Counselling 2024 are hereby informed that the intramcc portal for the contribution of UG seats is open now. Hence, institutes are requested to start entering their seats on the portal at the earliest so that the process of seat contribution can be completed timely," the notice stated.

According to the Ministry of Health, India has a total of 1,08,940 MBBS seats, with Tamil Nadu leading with 5,275 MBBS seats in government medical colleges, followed closely by Maharashtra, which offers 5,125 seats in government institutions.

The MCC further clarified that the user ID and password for entering seats on the portal remain the same as in previous years. In case of forgotten passwords, institutes can use the "FORGOT PASSWORD" option to reset them.

For any technical assistance, colleges can contact the MCC at 011-69227413, 69227416, 69227419, and 69227423 between 10 am and 6 pm.

The Supreme Court has scheduled the NEET-UG 2024 case hearing for July 18. A bench comprising Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice JB Pardiwala stated on Monday that the fresh batch of pleas and those pending in the high courts should be transferred to the Supreme Court, as they pertain to the same issue. This decision aims to ensure a consolidated and comprehensive review of all related cases.
