With pre-board exams just around the corner and the 2024 CBSE and ICSE board examinations inching closer, students are under intense pressure to perform well. It is possible that such pressure can impact their mental and physical health, disrupt their sleep cycle, and cause them to grow anxious and lose their focus. However, with a comprehensive plan, realistic goals, proper time management, and a well-organized routine, students can maximise their chances of success. Here are some more effective strategies that will help them to prepare well and succeed with minimal stress. Rajesh Bhatia, Founder-Managing Director of Treehouse Education and Accessories Ltd, offers tips that can help students succeed in their academic goals in a conversation with Republic World has shared some important points for the students to prepare for the board exams stress-free.

Don't delay your preparation

Students often make the mistake of starting their preparation late so make a strategy early to cover the syllabus. Make a comprehensive timetable because, without it, it would be hard to set realistic goals. Study with a plan to achieve actionable results. Many students overestimate their ability to absorb information quickly so make time to revise and practice often. This way you can work on your weaknesses well in time.

Study your non-favourite subjects first

Avoid the mistake of ignoring certain topics that you find tough or subjects that you do not like. It is not an option to ignore problems that in any case must be solved so allocate sufficient time to read, learn, and master them. Take help from your teachers and consult them to address your learning challenges in subjects that are tougher than the rest. Solving question papers of the last five years with a timer is one way to learn what your strengths and weaknesses are. Practice makes you perfect, so don't give up.

Don't just rely on memory

Some subjects test your memory but an in-depth understanding of topics is key in most subjects. Memorising a formula or a theorem without understanding its application will lead to disaster, confusion, and hence wrong interpretation. Cramming may give short-term benefits but learning is a lifelong process and only focused studying helps you to understand concepts thoroughly.

Indulge in your favourite hobbies

During this phase of intense stress, remember to set aside a dedicated time for rest. Don't forget to unwind and engage in activities you truly enjoy—be it listening to music, playing an instrument, cooking, playing games, or gardening. Effective time management will help you strike the right balance between academics and leisure and enable you to enjoy well-earned and refreshing breaks. Staying connected with your family and spending time with them will also lead to a great sense of fulfillment.

Focus on your inner self

When your mind, body, and soul are in alignment, then any challenges can be overcome. So trust your inner voice and the higher universal wisdom to guide you and you will feel less pressured and more inspired to achieve your goals. Spend some time before you start your day and after you end your day to connect with your inner self and express gratitude for all your blessings.

Focus on your mental health

During the examination season, it is important to take care of your mental health because a healthy mind can effectively monitor thoughts. To stay focused and positive, turn off social media notifications, and steer clear of unnecessary Google searches and unproductive online chats with friends. Keep your mind uncluttered as it will streamline your thought process, improve your focus,  generate confidence, and help you achieve your goals in academics and in life.

In conclusion, if you adhere to the above points, you will release the fear of examination to a great extent and if you are well prepared, you will emerge victorious. As the old adage goes, "As you sow, so shall you reap.” So plant the seeds of hard work today and the harvest of success will be yours to reap.
