Two Correct Answers to A Question Didn't Affect Exam: NTA on Students' Claim Regarding Physics Paper
Amid students' claim of unfairness because of two right answers for one single question in the NEET-UG Physics exam, the NTA has responded, refuting the claims.
New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued a clarification on the students' claim regarding the NEET UG Physics confusion.
Amid the ongoing NEET UG Paper Leak row, several students believed that a question in the physics paper had two right answers which caused ambiguity among the students; NTA has refuted these claims.
‘Two Right Answers to One Question Doesn't Affect Exam'
According to Live Law, in an argument before the Supreme Court regarding the NEET UG Paper Leak Row, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued a clarification with respect to the NEET UG Physics Question Controversy.
NTA said, “If more than one option is found to be correct then Four marks (+4) will be awarded to only those who have marked any of the correct options.”
The testing agency further said, “The plea/excuse claimed by the candidate that the question was not attempted as there was more than one correct option does not merit any consideration, in the light of the clear stipulation published in advance and consistently applied in previous examinations also.”
What was the NEET-UG Physics Question that Caused Controversy?
The physics question in the NEET UG Exam 2024, that has been creating controversy for having two correct answers, was
Statement I: ‘Atoms are electrically neutral as they contain equal numbers of positive and negative charges.’
Statement II: ‘Atoms of each element are stable and emit their characteristic spectrum.’
The four options from which the candidates were expected to select the correct answer were..
- First is correct but second is incorrect
- First is incorrect but second is correct
- Both first and second statements are correct
- Both statements are incorrect.
