XAT 2025 Exam Pattern Revised: The Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) 2025 has undergone significant changes in its exam pattern, with the test duration now reduced to three hours. The revised pattern, announced by the exam authorities, shifts the essay writing component from the exam to the Group Discussion and Personal Interview (GD/PI) stage. XAT 2025 is scheduled to be held on January 5, 2025.

As part of the new format, the exam will be divided into two parts. Part 1 will last for 170 minutes, covering three sections: Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning (VA & LR), Decision Making (DM), and Quantitative Aptitude and Data Interpretation (QA & DI). Part 2, which focuses solely on General Knowledge (GK), will be a 10-minute section, making the total exam duration 180 minutes.

 Key Changes in XAT 2025

- Essay Writing: The Analytical Essay Writing (AEW) component has been removed from the main exam and will now be evaluated during the GD/PI stages of the selection process. Previously, this was part of the written test.

- General Knowledge: The GK section will now consist of 20 questions, reduced from 25. These will include 12 questions on current affairs and 8 on static GK, aiming for a balanced assessment of candidates' knowledge. The GK score will be used exclusively by XLRI Jamshedpur for the final selection process.

- Exam Duration and Structure: The exam is divided into two parts. Part 1 will include VA & LR, DM, and QA & DI, to be completed in 170 minutes. Part 2 will consist of the GK section, to be completed in 10 minutes.

Detailed Sectional Breakdown

- Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning (VA & LR): This section will test candidates on reading comprehension, critical reasoning, vocabulary, English grammar, and related exercises such as para jumbles and cloze tests.

- Decision Making (DM): Candidates will face scenarios drawn from personal and professional contexts, requiring them to apply critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and prioritization to arrive at decisions.

- Quantitative Aptitude and Data Interpretation (QA & DI): The QA section will focus on application-oriented problems based on Class 10 mathematics, while the DI questions will require candidates to interpret, summarize, and analyze data.

- General Knowledge (GK): This section will evaluate candidates on static GK and current affairs, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of both foundational knowledge and ongoing global events.
