A complaint has been filed against Rahul Gandhi's nomination papers in Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh, demanding cancellation of the Congress MP's nomination papers. Advocate Ashok Pandey said, as quoted by ANI, "On behalf of Anirudh Pratap Singh, we have registered a complaint with the Returning Officer of Raebareli demanding cancellation of Rahul Gandhi's nomination papers on two grounds. First, Rahul Gandhi has been convicted for two years... He is ineligible to contest elections. Even though the Supreme Court has put a stay on Rahul Gandhi's conviction, it has not given any verdict like Afzal Ansari saying he can contest again... Since his stay on conviction does not involve permission to contest elections he should back off. Second, back in 2006, Rahul Gandhi once mentioned his Nationality as British. Being a British citizen, he cannot Constitutionally contest elections... After my complaint, Rahul Gandhi's representative was called in and my complaint has been accepted."

On the complaint against Rahul Gandhi, Congress leader Ajay Pal Singh said, "There's a candidate who registered a complaint against Rahul Gandhi after the period of complaining was over... The complainant said he has filed a writ challenging Rahul Gandhi's nationality... Rahul Gandhi's nomination was valid previously as well, and it is valid now also."

Of the 37 candidates in the fray for the four Lok Sabha seats in Odisha going to the polls on May 13, as many as 17 are crorepatis, according to a report. The Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) said a total of 37 candidates are in the fray for the Nabarangpur, Berhampur, Koraput and Kalahandi Lok Sabha constituencies, of which 17 (46 per cent) candidates have declared their assets worth more than Rs 1 crore.

Representatives of election management bodies from 23 countries, including Australia, Russia, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, are here to observe the ongoing Lok Sabha polls. Seventy-five delegates will visit six states in small groups to witness the elections and preparations related to it in various constituencies.The Election Commission (EC) on Saturday described the visit of the foreign delegates as a first in terms of scale and magnitude of participation.

Senior BJP leader and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha on Saturday accused the RJD and its alliance partner Congress of indulging in the politics of vote bank and appeasement and said Prime Minister Narendra Modi believes in the politics of 'santushtikaran' (satisfaction) not 'tushtikaran' (appeasement). Talking to reporters here, Sinha said, "The NDA under the leadership of Modi Ji chose the path of satisfaction for the people of the nation rather than indulging in appeasement. Our PM believes in the politics of 'santushtikaran' (satisfaction) not 'tushtikaran' (appeasement). He has turned the politics into politics of performance. They (RJD and its alliance partners) target 'Sanatana Dharma' as part of their vote-bank politics." The RJD and its alliance partners can't discuss issues like development, good governance and removing corruption, he alleged.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday asserted his government’s surgical and air strikes had shaken Pakistan, and the neighbouring country’s leaders are now praying that the Congress “shehzada” becomes India’s PM. The police in Thane district have registered a case after an aspiring candidate for the Lok Sabha polls accused a person with an identical name of taking his nomination papers by trickery and using them to submit his candidature, an official said on Saturday.

In the third phase, voting will take place in 94 seats covering 10 states and two Union territories with some big constituencies going on polls such as Bihar, Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal. However, the Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha seats in Jammu and Kashmir will be rescheduled due to natural and logistic barriers. A total of 1,351 candidates are set to contest in phase 3 of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president J P Nadda are scheduled to visit Odisha over the next few days to campaign for the simultaneous Lok Sabha and assembly elections. Modi is slated to address two political rallies in Berhampur and Nabarangpur Lok Sabha constituencies on Monday, a party leader said.

Former BJP MLC N Ramchander Rao, an accused in the 2016 Rohith Vemula suicide case, has alleged that Congress and Left parties had tried to gain political mileage by linking the death of the University of Hyderabad student to the BJP. The Delhi CEO's office has approved AAP's Lok Sabha elections campaign song after the party made modifications to it, officials said on Friday. AAP MLA Dilip Pandey, who penned and voiced the song, confirmed that the song has been approved. The party had claimed on April 28 that the Election Commission "banned" its campaign song "Jail ka jawab vote se denge".
