On exit polls, Telangana Minister and BRS leader KTR Rao said, “We are confident despite what the exit polls say. We are coming back with 70+ seats on 3rd Dec. When people are still standing in queue for voting but putting out exit polls is not right.” He further added, "This is an illogical exit poll. People are still voting... It is ridiculous of the Election Commission of India also basically to allow for exit polls at 5:30 when people are queuing up to vote till 9pm. I think it's very ludicrous... I've come here because I wanted to tell my party cadre that don't believe this nonsense..."
CM KCR is contesting from two segments-- Gajwel and Kamareddy. He represents Gajwel in the outgoing Legislative Assembly. Kamareddy and Gajwel are witnessing exciting contests. Congress has fielded its state president Revanth Reddy to take on the chief minister in Kamareddy, while BJP candidate Venkata Ramana Reddy is no pushover either.
In Gajwel, BJP has deployed its election campaign chairman Eatala Rajender against CM Rao. Revanth Reddy, a Lok Sabha member, is also contesting from Kodangal which he had represented earlier. BJP's Rajender is seeking re-election from Huzurabad.
2018 Results
This time, there are as many as 2,290 contestants in the fray which includes Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, his Minister-son K.T. Rama Rao, State Congress President A Revanth Reddy and BJP Lok Sabha members Bandi Sanjay Kumar and D Arvind.
In 2018, BRS (then Telangana Rashtra Samithi) won 88 of the 119 seats and had 47.4 per cent of the vote share. The Congress came a distant second with just 19 seats. The counting of the votes will take place on December 3.
The BRS is keen on extending its winning run that started in 2014, while the Congress is putting up a spirited fight to win the polls having tasted defeat in 2018 and four year earlier, when the previous UPA government granted statehood to Telangana. The BJP is also leaving no stone unturned to come to power for the first time in the southern state.
