Bhola Shankar day 1 box office prediction: Chiranjeevi film to open well despite Jailer?

The Meher Ramesh-helmed Bhola Shankar, starring Chiranjeevi, is set to open in theatres on August 11. The actioner, a remake of the Tamil blockbuster Vedalam (2015), has created a buzz among Megastar fans with its well-packaged trailer. A section of the audience, however, is not too happy about the fact that it is a remake rather than an 'original' story. So, will Bhola Shankar be able to open to a good response in the Telugu states despite the mixed talk?

How much will Bhola Shankar collection on day 1?

Bhola Shankar is set to open to a fair response at the box office mainly because of Chiranjeevi's star power. Trade analyst Ramesh Bala told Republic Media Network that the day 1 collection is likely to be between Rs 10 crore and Rs 15 crore.

"I expect Bhola Shankar's opening day share to be  anything between Rs 10 crore and 15 crore," he said.

Jailer to affect Chiranjeevi's film?

Bhola Shankar will competition from Rajinikanth's Tamil action comedy Jailer,which opened in theatres on August 10,  even in the Telugu states.  Trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan said that audience  is more interested in the Nelson film that the Vedalam remake.

"For Bhola Shankar, the interest among audience is very less compared to Jailer as the Telugu film is a remake. Ticket booking also tells the same story. 3 times more tickets ( have been) sold for Jailer compared to the Chiranjeevi movie," he said .

Manobala also said that Meher Ramesh's recent comments about Vedalam being 'cringe' may work against Bhola Shankar. He also points out that that there is 'uncertainty' around Bhola Shankar as it is said to be different from the original and doesn't feature the iconic transformation scene.

What's Bhola Shankar about?

Bhola Shankar, Chiranjeevi's second release of the year, is an action drama that revolves around a seemingly simple man with a past. It stars Tamannaah as the leading lady opposite the GodFather actor. She had previously collaborated with him for Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy (2019). Bhola Shankar also features Keerthy Suresh in a key role. She plays Chiranjeevi's sister in the film.
