The creators of the upcoming web series Ahsoka released a new trailer for their show earlier today. The show is a part of the Star Wars franchise and a spin-off from the series The Mandalorian. Rosario Dawson plays the titular role in the upcoming series.

3 things you need to know:

  • Two episodes of Ahsoka will begin streaming from August 23.
  • Hayden Christensen returns to the franchise as Anakin Skywalker.
  • Last week, makers released a video with Ahsoka training a ‘Rebels’ character in lightsaber combat.

Hayden Christensen's return puts rumours to rest

Set in the aftermath of the Empire's collapse, Star Wars: Ahsoka brings together the crew of the Ghost from Star Wars Rebels. The series also marks the return of Hayden Christensen to the franchise, who plays Anakin Skywalker. Last year, it was stated by The Hollywood Reporter that Christensen would return to the role of Anakin, alongside Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka. Anakin Skywalker’s voiceover also confirms that there will be scenes of interaction between Ahsoka and a younger version of Skywalker.

The trailer shows Ahsoka in a face-off with both the Imperial Inquisitors, also giving a glimpse of Ahsoka’s exchanges with the pilot Hera Syndulla, one of the ‘Rebels’ characters. Another promo visual has Ahsoka facing off against Rogue Force users. The series will also apparently dive deeper into the lore of The Force, which is the religion of all Force users.

Ahsoka set to release two episodes on August 23

Reportedly, the show captures multiple timelines, connecting events from the past and the present - from the times of the Republic to the Galactic Empire and now the New Republic that was created after the events of Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.

Ahsoka is developed by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni. Overall, the show will have over eight episodes. The series is set to release online on August 23 with two episodes.
