Pushpa 2: Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna starrer gets a release date

Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna's much-awaited film Pushpa 2 has finally got its release date. The film, which also stars Fahadh Faasil in the lead role, will hit the theaters on Independence Day next year. The makers confirmed the news on September 11.

• The film, initally was supposed to release solo, however, due to its length, the makers decided to give it a two part release.  

Pushpa: The Rule to hit theaters on Independence Day, 2024

On Monday, the makers of the film confirmed the release date of the Allu Arjun starrer. Taking to official X account, Pushpa's production House Sukumar Writings posted, "Mark the Date 15th AUG 2024 - #Pushpa2TheRule Grand Release Worldwide PUSHPA RAJ IS COMING BACK TO CONQUER THE BOX OFFICE Icon Star Allu Arjun."

The announcement poster also comprised a teaser poster of the film, with the protagonist’s hand resting on a chair-arm with swag, with 3 heavily-embellished rings on his fingers signifying his style and power at once.

What do we know about Pushpa films?

Directed by Sukumar, Pushpa: The Rise told the story of the rise of an underprivileged daily wage labourer Pushpa in the smuggling syndicate of red sandalwood.  The film, which released in December 2021, took the box-office by storm and eventually became a pan-India success despite a limited audience base owing to Covid restrictions.  Recently, Allu Arjun was also awarded National Award for his performance in the film. Besides winning an honor for Arjun, the film also won an award for its music, composed by Devi Sri Prasad. 

Although the makers had not announced a date earlier, it was speculated that the film was aiming for a March 2024 release. A few days ago, the film’s female lead Rashmika Mandanna also shared a photo from the sets of Pushpa 2, where fans could see the lavish set-design, setting promises for Pushpa 2 to be much grander and larger in scale compared to Pushpa: The Rise. Actors Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil will be reprising their respective roles in the sequel.
