Apoorva Sagotharargal actor Mohan found dead under mysterious circumstances

Veteran Tamil actor Mohan, known for his comedic supporting roles in movies of the late '80s and '90s, was found dead on a street in the Thiruparankundram area of Madurai, Tamil Nadu. Notably, the 60-year-old actor starred with Kamal Haasan in the 1989 film Apoorva Sagotharargal (dubbed in Hindi as Appu Raja), among many other supporting roles.

What led to Mohan's struggle and career downturn?

As mentioned, Mohan starred alongside Kamal Haasan in the 1989 film Apoorva Sagodharargal where he played the role of Appu's (Haasan) best friend. Apart from that, he was also a part of films like Naan Kadavul and Athisaya Manithargal. Despite his talent, Mohan was grappling with abject poverty for quite some time. After the passing of his wife a decade ago, the actor's career took a downturn, and he struggled to find work in the film industry.

The mysterious circumstances surrounding Mohan's death

Reports suggest that in recent years, Mohan moved to Thiruparankundram from his hometown, hoping for better prospects, but faced severe financial hardships. He resorted to begging on the main chariot road in the area as a means of survival. Local residents discovered him lying lifeless on the road on July 31 and immediately notified the police.

Mohan's body was unrecognizable at first but after an investigation by the authorities, it was confirmed that the victim was indeed the actor. The police, upon retrieving his body, sent it to the Madurai Government Hospital for post-mortem examination. As of now, there are no indications of foul play, and authorities suspect that Mohan may have succumbed to natural causes, possibly due to his prolonged battle with ill health.

Following post-mortem examination, Mohan's body will be transported to his birthplace in Salem and handed over to his family. The actor leaves behind five sisters and two brothers.
