Bhola Shankar box office collection day 1 estimates: Chiranjeevi to outperform GodFather?

Bhola Shankar, starring Chiranjeevi, opened in theatres on August 11 much to the delight of ‘Mega’ fans. The film, a remake of Ajith Kumar’s Vedalam (2015), wasn’t really able to create a great deal of buzz among the audience prior to its release as the promotions were not up to the mark. It was still expected to make an impact at the box office mainly because of Chiranjeevi’s popularity. So, was Bhola Shankar able to live up to expectations in the Telugu states on the opening day?

Does Bhola Shankar take average start?

Bhola Shankar is likely to open on a mediocre note at the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana box office. Trade analyst Manobala told Republic Digital that the film's first-day share will be less than Rs 15 crore as per early estimates. 

“I feel it will do less than Rs 15 crore on the first day in that market. Day 2 and night show bookings are very poor.  The buzz was already low due to the remake factor. Now due to word of mouth going against the film, the bookings started to slow down.. All of this will impact it big time,” he said.

If this is indeed the case, Bhola Shankar will beat the opening day collection of GodFather (2022), a remake of Mohanlal’s Lucifer (2019). The Mohan Raja directorial reportedly earned Rs 12.97 crore in the Telugu states on its first day. Bhola Shankar, however, may not be able to outperform Waltair Veerayya. The Bobby film had collected nearly Rs 23 crore on the opening day. It was based on an original story and starred Ravi Teja in a key role. 

Did Jailer affect Bhola Shankar?

Bhola Shankar opened in theatres a day after the Rajinikanth-led Jailer. Manobala, however, believes that this has little to do with its (expected) performance. “The result is due to its own making. A Clash will impact any movie in the first few days only. Whichever gets better word of mouth will run longer,” added the analyst.

Bhola Shankar, directed by Meher Ramesh, is an actioner that revolves around the bond between the protagonist and his sister. It stars Keerthy Suresh as Chiranjeevi’s sibling and marks her first collaboration with him. The cast includes Tamannaah Bhatia, Sushanth, Tarun Arora, and Vennela Kishore among others.
