Bhola Shankar starring Chiranjeevi is the Telugu remake of the Tamil film Vedalam (2015). However, a few days ago, filmmaker Meher Ramesh called Ajith's Vedalam a "cringe" movie, which attracted heavy criticism on social media. Recently, the director clarified the issue.

Meher Ramesh issues clarification 

After calling Ajith's Vedalam a cringe movie, Meher Ramesh took to the microblogging site X and issued a clarification for his remarks. He wrote, "I loved Vedalam when watched in 2015 and admired how the original story by director Siva sir showed strong bonding of a brother&sister, a sentiment that reflects with millions of people and wanted to show it our telugu audience (sic)." He further recalled the time he remade a film of Ajith's starring Prabhas.

Meher further wrote, "In 2009, I remade Ajith sir’s Billa with Darling Prabhas and now again I’m grateful for the opportunity to do Ajith Sir’s Action entertainer “Vedalam” as Megastar Bholaa Shankar." The filmmaker further revealed that his film starring Chiranjeevi will release in theatres on August 11. Director Siruthai Siva's Vedalam was released back in 2015 in Tamil language and received positive response from the audience. 

What did Meher Ramesh say about Vedalam?

During one of the promotional interviews, Meher Ramesh responded to the memes on Bhola Shankar circulating on social media. Commenting on the differences, he said, "Vedalam has 10 times more cringe scenes than those you are referring to as ‘cringe’ in the Bhola Shankar trailer, but I haven't shot them. Instead, I've modified the screenplay to create an entirely different film."
