Bhumi Pednekar arrived at the new Parliament house earlier today. She was accompanied by her upcoming film's co-stars Dolly Singh and Shehnaaz Gill. The three actresses were there to attend the ongoing special session of the Parliament in which the Women’s Reservation Bill has been introduced by the Union government.

'Policies need to have female perspective'

Addressing the press, Bhumi Pednekar spoke about how it is a moment of pride for her and her team to be invited to a session when the Women’s Reservation Bill is the subject of discussion. She said, “As a modern Indian woman, representation is very important for us. More women need to be in place of power, and only then will debates, law-making, and policies will have a female perspective.”

Bhumi Pednekar praises political leaders

Bhumi Pednekar also lauded the leaders and decision-making bodies for their foresight, adding that when a message like this comes from our leaders, it goes a long way. The Badhaai Do actress said, “There is no difference between men and women. Men and women are built the same way, and hence should be given equal rights too.” Bhumi further spoke about how she feels a lot of hope, both as a women as an Indian. She added, “Today is a positive day, and it is only bound to get better.”

Punjabi actress Shehnaaz Gill praised the way the new building makes space for artistic and cultural milestones of the nation. She also spoke about why Women’s Reservation Bill is very significant, adding, “I come from a village, where parents often deem it suitable to marry off girls at an early age. If this bills comes to implementation, more women will be encouraged to be independent.”
