Paresh and Akshay reunite after over a decade

Their last outing together was OMG in 2012 which was not in their usual comedy genre. Their hits date back to the 90s like Kayda Kanoon (1993), Mohra (1994) Angaaray (1998) and Insaaf: The Final Justice (1997) to 2000s comedies like Hera Pheri (2000), Phir Hera Pheri (2006), Welcome, Garam Masala (2005) and Bhagam Bhag (2006).

A picture of the old working professionals has gone viral on social media. In it, they shake hands and are caught flashing their candid smiles in the set of a airplane. The scene appears to be towards the end of first half in the original Soorarai Pottru. Paresh is also reprising his character from Soorarai Pottru where he shared the screen with Suriya.

Soorarai Pottru inspired by real life events

According to the makers, Sarfira is a uniquely Indian story of "grit, determination and jugaad, of an underdog challenging the socio-economic fabric of a system entrenched in class, caste and power dynamics." It also features Radhika Madan and Seema Biswas in pivotal roles.

Soorarai Pottru revolved around Nedumaaran Rajangam or Maara (played by Suriya), who sets out to make the common man fly and in the process takes on the world’s most capital intensive industry with the help of his family, friends and sheer will power. It was partly inspired by events from the life of Air Deccan founder Captain GR Gopinath.
