Alia Bhatt recalls auditioning for Student Of The Year in school uniform: I was in 11th grade

Alia Bhatt made her big Bollywood debut in 2012 with Student of the Year alongside debutants Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra. Over the years, the actress has starred in 25 films and recently won a National Film Award for her performance in Gangubai Kathiawadi. Now, the actress attended the Red Sea Film Festival 2023, wherein she spoke about her professional life. The actress shared that when she gave her first audition for SOTY, she was still in school.

During an interview at the Red Sea International Film Festival, the actress revealed that she was in 11th grade when the actress gave her first interview for SOTY. Clueless about what an audition was, Alia added that she went ahead and gave the audition in her school uniform.

"I was in the 11th grade, literally going from school, so I was in my uniform. I was much healthier and enjoyed eating French fries more at that time. I thought, ‘I look great, there’s nothing wrong.’ So, I walked into his office, and he said I was charming in person and asked me to do an audition,” Alia shared adding that at that time she didn’t know what an audition was, "but still she went ahead with it and the rest is history.”

In a recent episode of a popular talk show, the host recalled bursting into tears when the director informed Alia that she was in the film. “When I went to the van and told her that she’s on (confirmed in the film), and then I said ‘I’m directing the film’. She burst out crying and the first thing she said was ‘Can I eat a cupcake’?” recounted the director.
