Anil Kapoor, who is currently hosting a reality-based show Bigg Boss OTT, opened up about the success of Crew, starring Tabu, Kareena Kapoor and Kriti Sanon. The movie amassed over ₹150 crore at the box office worldwide and last month it made its way to Netflix. Anil Kapoor, who produced the movie was asked what the success of a women-led film like Crew means to him as a producer, to this, he said one shouldn't be afraid to make women-led movies.

In an interview with PTI, Anil Kapoor expressed his happiness and said that the movie was such a big success not only in the theatres but even on Netflix. He added one shouldn’t be afraid to make women-led films fearing their fate at the box office. “This is the reason why it is important to continue working so that we can do these things, which other people are afraid to do. If we have the opportunity to make these films, some will work, some won’t but at least we should try to make these films,” he continued.

He credited the film's co-producer and his daughter Rhea for not shying away from presenting "women as leading men" in her movies. “Rhea has made films with girls and presented them like leading men. More than 95 per cent of the work that she has done has been successful. She is understated, she doesn’t do publicity. There are certain people who are creative and do a lot of innovative things but keep quiet about it. Rhea is one of those people,” he said.

What is the Crew all about?

For those unfamiliar with the storyline, Crew revolves around the lives of three close friends who work as flight attendants for Kohinoor Airlines. Their peaceful existence is disrupted by an unexpected turn of events, plunging them into a vulnerable situation. As they deal with unforeseen challenges, the trio must summon all their courage and wit to navigate through the chaos. Produced by Ekta Kapoor, Rhea Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, and Digvijay Purohit under the banners of Balaji Motion Pictures and Anil Kapoor Films & Communication Network, Crew also stars Rajesh Sharma as Mittal, the meticulous chief financial officer of Kohinoor Airlines, alongside Saswata Chatterjee, who portrays Vijay Walia, the assertive chairman of the airline. Joining them are Diljit Dosanjh as the CBI sub-inspector Jaiveer Singh Rathore and Kapil Sharma in a special appearance as the defaulter millionaire Arun Sethi.
