Bhushan Kumar is currently gearing up for the release of his film Yaariyan 2, which stars his wife Divya Khosla Kumar in the lead role and will hit the big screens on October 20. Ahead of the release of the 2014 film’s sequel, the celebrated producer opens about the monumental success of other franchise films like Gadar 2, Omg 2 and Dream Girl 2. He expressed excitement about the recent hits and said, “All the franchises are working”.

Bhushan Kumar says all franchise films are working 

In a conversation with Pinkvilla, Bhushan Kumar expressed his confidence in the upcoming film Yaaiyan 2. He asserted that he is sure the film will do well and he credited the success of other franchise films for the same. Kumar reasoned, “We can see that it's happening. It is happening in every franchise film. It happened with Oh My God, though it was a good film. It happened in Dream Girl which was a good out-and-out comedy film. These 2 are the best examples. Gadar was huge. So all the franchises are working”

Kumar’s statements are not far from the truth. All three films the producer mentions were released in the month of August and all three were sequel films that pulled audiences to housefull threatres even weeks after releases. The box office collections of the films have been staggering with the Sunny Deol starrer minting ₹514.60 crore, OMG 2 collecting ₹149.92 crore and the Ayushmann Khurrana film raking ₹99.87 crore in India, as per Sacnilk. 

Bhushan Kumar confirms Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, Raid 2, De Dana Dan 2, Aashiqui 3 

Talking about the franchise films, Bhushan Kumar also gave an update on what to expect from his production house in the coming years. The film slates include the much-awaited sequels like Aashiqui 3, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Metro In Dino. The producer also confirmed that a sequel of Ajay Devgn starrer Raid and De De Pyar De are in the works. He also announced that a fourth part of the Arsahad Warsi starrer comedy film Dhaamal will also go on floors soon.
