Tanhaji starring Ajay Devgn and Kajol is one of the most highly anticipated releases of 2020. The film will revolve around the Maratha warrior Taanaji Malusare. Ajay Devgn will be playing the lead role and Sacred Games actor Saif Ali Khan is set to play the antagonist in the film. But Tanhaji is not the first film that is based on a historical warrior. Here are few other movies from Bollywood that are based on real-life warriors. Keep reading for details about these films.

1. Ranveer Singh as Bajirao Peshwa I in Bajirao Mastani

Ranveer Singh portrayed the role of  Bajrao Peshwa I in this Sanjay Leela Bhansali directed the film. Bajirao Peshwa I is considered to be one of the greatest warriors from the Peshwas. Ranveer Singh went through an extreme amount of transformation for the film. Bajirao Mastani’s plot revolved around the love story between the Peshwa warrior and the Princess of Bundelkhand, Mastani.

2. Kangana Ranaut as Rani Laxmibai in Manikarnika

Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika was the story about the Queen of Jhansi and her rebellion against the British Raj. Kangana Ranaut’s character in the film went from being an innocent little princess to the brave Rani Laxmi Bai, who fights ferociously against the British soldiers.

3. Hrithik Roshan as Akbar in Jodha Akbar

Hrithik Roshan’s portrayal of the Mughal emperor, Akbar, was highly acclaimed by the critics and the audience. Although the story revolves around the love story between the Rajput princess Jodha Bai and Mughal King Akbar, Hrithik’s portrayal of the King had a galore of battle scenes and even intense court scenes where Akbar's well-known qualities such as wisdom and wit, which were essayed perfectly in the movie.
