Dream Girl 2 Box Office Collection Day 3: Ayushmann Khurrana film nears Rs 50 crore

The much-anticipated second installment of the successful Dream Girl franchise, Dream Girl 2, has commenced its box office journey on a positive note. Following an impressive opening collection of Rs 10.69 crore despite competition from Gadar 2 and OMG 2, the film surged ahead with good figures in its first weekend. The film's momentum suggests that it might soon cross the Rs 50 crore mark within the initial four days.

Dream Girl 2 earns Rs 40 crore 

According to early estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk, Dream Girl 2 collected Rs 16 crore on Sunday. This brings the total box office collection of the Ayushmann Khurrana and Ananya Panday starrer to Rs 40.71 crore. 

On its first Sunday, the film enjoyed an overall occupancy rate of 48.85 % in the Hindi belt. As per the website, Jaipur had the highest occupancy rate at 63.75%, while Surat witnessed a relatively lower rate of 33.25% compared to major cities. Sunday's evening time screenings drew the most viewers, followed by afternoon, night, and morning shows. 

Dream Girl 2 v/s Gadar 2, OMG 2 and Jailer

Despite facing competition from recent releases such as Gadar 2, OMG 2, and Jailer, Dream Girl 2 has managed to capture the audience's attention and appreciation. Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and said that the film's good opening day figures have contributed to the resurgence of Bollywood.

Dream Girl 2 is a sequel to Dream Girl, released in 2019. The original film also started its box office journey with an impressive Rs 10.15 crore and eventually went on to accumulate Rs 142.26 crore nett. The Raaj Shaandilyaa directorial starred Ayushmann Khurrana in the role of Pooja, alongside Nushrratt Bharuccha.

Dream Girl 2 benefits from positive word of mouth, as it presents Khurrana's character, Karan, taking on the role of Pooja to rescue his father from financial woes. The film showcases his versatile portrayal of various roles while embodying Pooja's identity, including that of a bar dancer, psychiatrist, and daughter-in-law.
